«Petroleum»: allowing the private sector to import natural gas immediately after the issuance of checks

And approved by the Executive Council and the General Authority for Petroleum and the Council of the Egyptian Holding Company for Natural Gas «EGAS» management, to allow private companies to import natural gas, or LNG, according to Khalid Abdalibdaa Prime «EGAS», pointing out that the approvals will be issued immediately after the announcement of the regulations pertaining to this matter.

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has been allocated, grant to Egypt to prepare for the establishment of two organizing Gas Affairs Studies, and organize the affairs of petroleum products, along the lines of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, where the grant provided to for the preparation of studies and advisory offices, in addition to the grant for the preparation of an energy strategy for Egypt until the year 2035.

According to the Chairman of EGAS, it has the right for companies operating in the domestic market to apply for approvals to import its natural gas needs and supplied their own.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, during the current period, to ask bidders to explore for natural gas to increase the domestic production of gas, in addition to import shipments of liquefied natural gas, and to allow private companies to import gas, as a step to provide the local market's needs of natural gas, which produces Egypt about 4.7 billion cubic feet of gas per day, and is used about 400 million cubic feet per day in the fields for the operation of the extraction equipment, while the remaining guidance of production to the domestic market, according to data issued by the Ministry of Petroleum.
